Job Summary 
Marcom Senior Photo Tech Specialists work within Marcom Production Operations group and support all photography needs on marketing, newsroom, corporate communications, and event productions, as well as video production projects; where the primary capture device is either an iPhone, Apple Vision Pro, other unreleased & pre-release Apple products, as well as traditional digital cameras.

These unique specialists support our Apple producers and creatives and provide image and photographic expertise before, during and in post for productions. They also work with producers and creatives on prerelease devices, to capture content that is used in launch videos, packaging, Keynotes, social media, in store devices, digital signage, and advertisements.

Key Qualifications 
The Senior Photo Tech Specialist must be hands-on and have a deep understanding of photographic methods, tools, and software. Leveraging photo expertise to use iPhones to replace traditional cameras, as well as other unreleased products that have any method of capturing images. They also have experience working in a fast paced production environment, especially in remote international locations. 

This role will require working alongside the photo teams creatives, retouchers, producers, external photographers, and other key stakeholders; where impeccable customer service is required under incredibly high levels of stress. Nothing on a shoot is constant so this role must be able to pivot gracefully, make well informed decisions on the spot, and work diligently with the myriad of ever changing needs. It is paramount that unbroken attention is given to the security, positive control, while handling unreleased products, and delivery of assets captured during the production.

Description
As a member of the Photo Tech team, you will play a critical role in helping the all of Marcom create marketing, presentation, and testing content used for released and unreleased products. 

  • Provide technical photographic expertise to our producers and creatives during pre-production and production
  • Develop and prototype workflows, security protocols, and file management for new operating systems, and unreleased products
  • Follow exacting security protocols on set and make sure our content, devices, and IP are never exposed 
  • Act as the secondary DRI for hard drives while on production
  • Troubleshoot Apple devices and Camera issues during production
  • Responsible for all confidential still assets captures during the run of production
  • Manage delivery, security, and logistics of marcom photos assets for all production needs
  • Continuously learn and be an expert in everything Shot On iPhone.
  • Drive and willingness to go above and beyond

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree preferred
  • 10+ years working in a technical production role
  • 10+ years working as a as a digital tech 
  • Experience working with Producers, Director of Photography or Creatives in a production environment
  • Must have developed own photographic practice
  • Apple Genius experience a plus

Additional Requirements

  • Expertise in Capture One and MacOS are required.  Proficiency in Photo Mechanic, ChronoSync, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Better Rename, Terminal, TidyUp, and iOS is required.
  • Must have a working understanding of camera lenses, lens optics, lighting, and the varied types of DSLR sensors.
  • Provide creative processing support and file handling for the eXtreme Dynamic Range feature found in iPhone images.
  • Must have valid passport with expiration date minimum of two years from hire date
  • Must have access to reliable transport in the Bay Area to be able to respond to varied and changing production needs.
  • Occasional multiple overnight stays for destination shoots and airline travel. 
  • Occasionally required to spend long periods of time at a computer screen. 
  • Must be able to work in extreme and varied environments. (ie. Hiking in a jungle, on a boat at sea, on a sub-arctic glacier, etc)
  • May be required to travel domestically, and occasionally internationally, for shoots.
  • May be required to travel for several continuous weeks, as project demands.
  • Travel may be up to 60% of any given quarter, depending on production needs
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week from the main office, additionally to work different shifts and schedules to support production shoots (swing and/or graveyard on occasion)
  • Overtime hours may be required depending on project, with little or zero notice
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively while on production sets and remote locations
  • Must be able to time manage effectively to ensure deadlines, schedules, as well as meetings are not missed
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds, to load and unload equipment needed for production
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external teams.
  • May be called upon to do camera, photo, device, and image comparative research and testing. On occasion will be asked to stand in for test shoots. In very rare cases, may be asked to stand in for a photographer when unexpected production emergencies arise. 
  • May need to ingest and archive other media types on occasion, as production needs require.
  • Exemplify rigorous on set Quality Assurance including color and image quality assurance.

  • Preferred years of experience : 10+ Years
  • Travel Required : 25% to 50%
  • Business Day Timings: 9 AM to 5 PM
